First day of building is done. We had so much fun on the drive out, all the kids run to the streets when they see our vans coming and its like a parade, throwing candy. The weather is perfect, 75-80 and the sun was shining all day. We are building a home for Mother/Father and 3 daughters, they were there to help with the smaller things today, cleaning tools etc.. Jamison jumped right in and had a drill in his hand all day, mudding drywall and then sanding later. It made me so proud to see him work that hard and learn. I was the only adult on the team and he instantly has 3 new friends from Michigan. We will have dinner in hour then devotion after, and then bed we are all beat.
Biggest thing I realized today was: You dont have to speak the same language to hear/feel happiness. The family stayed with us all day and it was all smiles and laughter. Love you all and catch ya tonorrow.
Day 2- Another ambitous day for the team. We met with our family and began the process of putting stucco on the house. it was hard work and we all participated with each other to complete all of our homes as a group. Had another great lunch from a host family, They layed down pine bows to make sure all the dirt floors were covered, we learned that is only for special birthdays and weddings so they really appreciate us being here. After lunch we went back and painted the interior walls bright blue. My team then went in and hand painted their favorite bible versus and our family came and helped paint The kids all jumped in and painted trees, hearts, clouds suns (pictures when we get home). It was so great to see the smiles just from the kids being able to paint with multiple colors and have free reign to paint their home. After we were done we had an hour to just play soccer and toss the ball around. The ENTIRE family played with us including Mom and Dad and it was all smiles. We are all beat, tired and ready for a good dinner and some relaxing time. I committed to not turning my phone on all week and just focus on Jamison and the reason we are here. I cant recall the last time we didnt have our phones on with internet etc.. and if feels so right. Love you all and see ya soon,
